I have been with BSM for almost 20 years taking the lead design and management role on most of the Whanganui Office’s key projects.
I enjoy the processes of projects and the many interactions that are required to lead to successful outcomes. This involves working with a myriad of people from client(s) to consultants to contractors; the success of projects being dependant on great communication and relationships. The greatest satisfaction in architecture comes from knowing that the designed environments are functioning in a positive way and enhancing the lives of those that occupy them; whether for work, learning, recreation or rest. Receiving positive feedback from clients and users that the spaces created are doing this and people are enjoying being in these spaces brings the greatest reward.
I am actively involved with the wider architectural profession having been on the NZIA Council, the local branch as chair and currently as a committee member. I have also been involved with a local taskforce in respect of earthquake prone buildings.
In my personal time I like to have a regular game or three a week of squash and I am actively involved with a local church. I am also an operational volunteer with St John Ambulance fitting that with general family and work commitments.
